It is a public access to the Lagoon of the Seven Colors and currently opens from 6:00 in the morning, so its schedule allows you to arrive around sunrise for a good part of the year.

You don't need to stay in front of the lagoon.

Arrive early, find a spot by the water, and wait.

2. Watch the sunrise from a public dock

Along the Costera there are different public accesses to the lagoon.

They are a good alternative for travelers staying in the center who just want to walk to the water before starting the rest of the day.

Among them there are accesses at the height of Calle 18 and Calle 36.

Do not expect necessarily facilities, restaurant, lockers or service.

That is precisely the point.

You arrive.

You sit down.

That’s why we do not recommend memorizing a universal time like “6:00 a.m.”.

Instead, check the sunrise time for the exact day of your visit and arrive approximately 20–30 minutes early if you are going to contemplate it from land.

From the Costera and much of the town, you are looking east over the lagoon.

That doesn't mean that sunset is boring.

The sky can take on spectacular tones and reflect on the water.

But they are two different experiences.

You don't need to prepare an expedition.

Can you paddle or kayak at sunrise on a Wednesday?

Here is an important exception.

Bacalar has Wednesday without navigation designated for the rest of the lagoon.

During the Wednesdays subject to this restriction, recreational navigation activities also include paddleboarding and kayaking.

However, there are certain dates of the year when navigation is enabled.
